MITZVAH

MITZVAH
The design (2025) revolves around the Hebrew word 'Mitzvah' as well as around the organizing principle of The Danish Jewish Museum. The concept of Mitzvah itself in its deep ethical meaning as a commandment, resolve and a fundamental good deed and more explicitly referring to the rescue of the Danish Jews in October 1943. The MITZVAH series consists of a typographic illustration.

Read from right to left just like Hebrew, the first letter initiates the journey of the rescue boats in the night from Denmark, crossing the sound to Sweden in the second letter which is also called Tzaddik, and means 'righteous'. The third letter shows a Hanukkah Menorah which symbolizes miracles and light.
The last letter, the Hei, includes symbols like pomegranates and the star / shield of David.
